uncertainty

Uncertainty,
My companion; my friend

In love
In life
In faith
In hope
We embrace – you and I

You strike me
You stroke me
You doubt me
You trust me

Uncertainty
My companion; my friend

What can Security offer in light of you?
What does Precaution achieve when you are near?
What could Assurance say to deter you?
Confidence bows in your presence, Uncertainty

In talent
In health
In money
In knowledge
You reign. You are king.

I do not presume to understand your ways,Your Majesty
And I know better than to inquire
There is but one question that haunts me
Only one thing that I must ask

Why?
Uncertainty
You name is response enough.

Uncertainty, who will oppose you?
Uncertainty, who will challenge?
Your adversaries are held captive – is there no one to contest?

Every truth is held in paradox
Each unknown springs from the known
Without what is, what is not can’t exist

Uncertainty,
My companion; my friend

In love
In life
In faith
In hope

I have found your weakness
I have spotted your Achilles

Your armor is not impenetrable
Your walls can be breached

I am planning an invasion

I will betray you
I am betraying you
I have betrayed you, Uncertainty

The man in the Iron mask
The only face you cannot wear
The only title you cannot own

I am certain I have found it.

Will you let me climb your mountain
Though I'm not certain why
To me, it's more appealing
Than others I've passed by

I will not affect its grandeur
By breaking off a stone
I won't disturb a single grain
I know it's not my own

I will not remove its flora
No tree will I uproot
I won't meddle with its beauty
Nor trample flowers underfoot

I may explore your darkest caves
Through springs of water, run
With squinted eyes I'll revel in
The way your ice reflects the sun

But I promise not to trespass
I will do you no wrong
At anytime just speak the word
I will not tarry long

But if you'll let me wander
Amidst the warmth and cold
Know my resolve is steadfast
The upward path I'll hold

Though I've pledged not to tamper
With your pristine mountain range
I won't guarantee my presence
Will not induce a change

When practiced hands begin to climb
They do not lose their grip
My tender touch will never alter
And neither will it slip

I will traverse this holy ground
Until my time is through
Each ounce of strength I can procure
I will spend selflessly on you

Your mountain is majestic
It's stature wide and high
Though love's my sole companion
There is no greater guide

Together we will find the way
Until our task's complete
Abandoned to our only goal
That our two souls will meet

Won't you let me climb this mountain
Without it I'm alone
For all along my mountain range
Has been to climb your own
